Wish 100 Gears Up for a 5th Year of Granting Wishes by the Mile

wish 100The City of McKinney in partnership with Make-A-Wish® North Texas, McKinney Velo Club and Matrix Cycling Club is proud to announce the 5th annual Wish 100 cycling event taking place onOct. 5 in Historic Downtown McKinney.

This 60-mile ride through McKinney and surrounding cities in Collin County will raise funds for wishes of children battling life-threatening medical conditions. There are three planned ride distances – 62 miles, 42 miles and 12 miles. Cyclists can register at www.wish100tx.org or visit three convenient locations on Wednesday, Oct. 2 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.Registration locations in McKinney include McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Historic Downtown McKinney, Richardson Bike Mart in Richardson, and Bike Mart in Frisco.

“We are proud to once again partner with Make-A-Wish® North Texas, McKinney Velo Club and Matrix Cycling Club. This important fundraising event helps raise awareness and funds to ensure that wishes continue to come true in Collin County. I believe that by working together, we can ensure that this cause continues to remain in the forefront of our generous and giving community,” said Ty Lake, Main Street and MPAC Director.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, on-site registration and packet pickup opens at 6 a.m. located on the grounds of MPAC at 111 N. Tennessee St. The ride begins at 8 a.m. in historic downtown and will end downtown at 271 N. Tennessee St. followed by a celebration picnic sponsored by In and Out Burger, with complementary lunch provided to riders, families, friends, sponsors and fans until 1 p.m.

“I want to thank the City of McKinney and all of this year’s riders for raising much needed revenues to grant the wishes of children throughout North Texas with life-threating medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Without such commitments, our work would be impossible,” said Scotty Landry, CEO, Make-A-Wish North Texas.
