TSB photographer Sawyer Erickson put his camera, and his creative eye, to work in the aftermath of the ice storm of 2013, capturing the stark beauty of the ice and snow left behind by the Mother Nature’s fury.
The storm, which hit North Texas on Thursday, Dec. 5, left thousands without power over the weekend, forced schools to cancel classes and holiday events and activities to be postponed. Shelves on many of McKinney’s grocery stores are bare as trucks are unable to deliver supplies.
Driving remains hazardous as roadways continue to be covered with a thick layer of ice. Forecasters predict that Sunday afternoon temps will finally be above freezing, promoting some melting, but below freezing temperatures over night will make driving conditions treacherous for the morning commute.
