Ideas for weekend fun, thanks to the McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau:
City Veterans Day Observations (Saturday/Monday): The City of McKinney will honor veterans with two ceremonies at McKinney’s Veterans Memorial Park, 6053 Weiskopf in Craig Ranch. The first observance will be Saturday at 11 a.m. and then a sunset service honoring Collin County’s fallen servicemen and women scheduled for Veteran’s Day (Monday) at 5:27 p.m. That ceremony will include the reading of 300-plus names of late Collin County veterans engraved on the monument.
McKinney Art Studio Tour (Saturday-Sunday): The 5th Annual McKinney Art Studio Tour (MAST) is comprised of McKinney visual artists who create original works of art, and open their students this time each year to share their talents with art enthusiasts. Pick up a map of the tour or download one from the tour website. Have each artist sign your map as you visit their studios, then drop the signed map off at Studio #2 on the map. At 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, there will be drawings to win one of the many items donated by the tour artists. You need not be present to win. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
American Legacy Celebration (Saturday): The Sons of the Flag Burn Foundation bring their American Legacy Celebration to McKinney National Airport on Saturday for a free family-friendly event celebrating veterans and their service to our country. An all-veteran parachuting team will skydive, and attendees will enjoy live music, a kids’ area, a balloon glow, vintage planes and educational displays. 10 a.m. to sunset. Parking is $20 per car; a discounted pass is available on their website.
Model-T Driving Course (Saturday): Learn all about a Model-T, including how to start it and how to drive it! This fun course at the Collin County Farm Museum is a two-parter. This week covers learning the parts of the car and starting it; next week puts students behind the wheel for a spin on the beautiful Myers Park grounds. Form can be found HERE.
