Weekend Buzz: Trade Days, Winter Farmers Market, Lumberyard and Bluegrass

Lots of shopping to headline the weekend in McKinney. Read on for what the Convention & Visitors Bureau offers for family fun suggestions.

sisters on the flySisters on the Fly (Saturday): The nationally-known Sisters on the Fly will camp in McKinney this weekend. They’ll be joining the fun at the November Winter Farmers Market on Saturday with their 50 vintage campers on the green space to the north of Chestnut Square. Tours their glam/retro trailers from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for $5/person. Proceeds go to Chestnut Square! Get your tickets in advance online.

Third Monday Trade Days (Friday-Sunday): Whether you’re almost finished with your holiday gift list or haven’t even started yet, Third Monday Trade Days is the place to be this weekend. You’ll find unique gift ideas, seasonal décor as well as trendy clothing and accessories-all at bargain prices. Don’t forget to indulge in the tempting carnival-type food. 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; free admission with $5 parking on Saturdays and Sundays before 3 p.m. 4550 W. University two miles east of Central Expwy.

Masters of Bluegrass (Saturday): Southwest Bluegrass Club presents Masters of Bluegrass with Lou Reid and Carolina and The Byron Berline Band. Lou Reid is a former winner of the IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year Award and is arguably the most recognizable voice in Bluegrass music. The Byron Berline Band provides an upbeat and creative blend of Bluegrass, Western Swing and more. This project funded in part by the City of McKinney through the McKinney Arts Commission, and by Staff Force, Inc.

old red lumberyardOld Red Lumberyard (Friday-Saturday): The ORLY Market is a collection of vendors offering unique vintage items and antique treasures! The Market is held Friday andSaturday (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) prior to the thirdMonday of every month to offer wonderful one of a kind finds just East of the downtown square at 600 E. Louisiana St. Also shop at other Flour Market District businesses such as Fringe, DUmpster Diva and TreasureSpotters, all found in the area around the Flour Mill between Virginia and Louisiana.
