Weekend Buzz: Live Music, Mark Twain and Balloons

TSB offers plenty of entertainment options at home in McKinney, courtesy of the McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Music and Mark Twain Under the Stars (Saturday): Texas singer/songwriter R.D. Foster and Texas TV and film actor Jerry Biggs, both McKinney natives, will perform on the outdoor stage at Wales Manor Vineyard and Winery on Saturday from 7:30-10 p.m. Gate opens at 6:30, so arrive early for the best seating. (Winery tables and chairs are limited, so bring blankets and/or lawn chairs. No outside beverages; wine, sodas and water will be available for purchase as will stone-oven fired pizza. $20 per person; under 12 free. 4488 CR 408.

Put McKinney in the Top 40 (through Oct. 15): To celebrate Texas Highways Magazine’s 40th anniversary in 2014, the magazine is counting down Texas’ Top 40 destinations. No doubt in the minds of those who know and love McKinney that our community needs to be on that list. How can you help? Click the photo at right to access the page of submission options and ideas.

MLA Community Yard Sale (Saturday): Hundreds of sellers are expected to be offering all types of gently used goodies, from children’s clothing, toys and furniture to household items, adults’ clothing and lots of fun finds and treasures. Proceeds benefit scholarships for the children of McKinney’s first responders. $1 to shop. 1800 S. Stonebridge Drive (at Stonebridge United Methodist).
