Weekend Buzz: Beat It, Jack Frost, We’ve Got Stuff To Do!

Because of wintery weather forecast for our area starting Thursday night, we’d recommend you call ahead about the events in this weekend’s update. Most have said they’re rain-or-shine, but if we get ice, those plans could change. We wish you all a safe weekend. Try to stay warm! … McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau:

40th Holiday Tour of Homes (Saturday-Sunday): The first weekend of December has been The Heritage Guild of Collin County Holiday Tour of Homes for 40  years. The tradition of opening historic homes for a public tour began in 1973 when founders first opened their homes to raise money to purchase the Dulaney House and Cottage and the grounds that eventually became Chestnut Square. Every year five or six homes and historic structures are decorated for Christmas and opened for the tour.  The proceeds from ticket sales and an annual raffle are a major component of the ongoing operation of Chestnut Square. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Tickets are available at Chestnut Square and other downtown businesses listed HERE. Homes, which you can also see at this link, are open on Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from noon – 5 p.m. 972-562-8790.
