Weekend Buzz: Are You More Into Cars, Trout or Puppets?

The McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau offers its selection of weekend events to enjoy as a family.

Hansel & Gretel (Saturday): Vividly presented with beautiful, hand-crafted marionette puppets, Le Theatre de Marionette’s Hansel and Gretel follows the familiar siblings on their trek into the woods to find berries for dinner. Recommended for families with children age 3 and up, two performances run for approximately 60 minutes each, including a brief (and silly) introduction to the wonderfully magic world of marionette puppetry – Silly Strings! 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. at McKinney Performing Arts Center Courtroom Theater. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children.

Annual Trout Derby (Saturday): Towne Lake will be stocked with more than 4000 trout for the city’s annual Trout Derby featuring casting contests, free hot dogs, and prizes for the longest cast, heaviest stringer, and biggest and smallest fish. The event takes place at the Towne Lake East Pavilion (1405 Wilson Creek Pkwy.) Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, and is free for kids; ages 17 and up pay just $3. Participants must provide their own pole and bait. Adults must have a fresh water fishing license. Sponsored by Texas Parks & Wildlife and Academy Sports & Outdoors, and hosted by the City of McKinney Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department.

andy timmonsAndy Timmons Plays Sgt. Pepper (Saturday): Enjoy an evening of music with the Andy Timmons Band performing Sgt. Pepper at The Sanctuary Music & Events Center on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 8-11 p.m.General admission tickets on the main floor are $25 each Seating & Standing Room, Seating is on a first come basis. A group of VIP Tables (seating five people and with personal wait staff service) will be available on the balcony for $200 each. Order tickets HERE.

Classics on the Square (Saturday): McKinney Main Street welcomes the local classic car and truck enthusiast group, the Morning Maniacs, to Historic Downtown McKinney the last Saturday of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please come check out some amazing cars and trucks, enjoy some breakfast and shopping too.
