Weekend Buzz: AirPower, Female Odd Couple, Music in Motion

There is plenty on tap this weekend in McKinney. Check out your choices, courtesy of the McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau.

CAF AirPower Expo Tour  (Thru Sunday): Vintage aircraft will be flying the skies over McKinney this weekend during the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) AirPower Expo at the Collin County Regional Airport. Cockpit tours are included with admission. Find details at and a full schedule on the CAF website. Plane rides scheduled and paid for online are discounted from ride prices when booked at the event. Most of the aircraft on display are quite rare and are authentic. Admission for veterans and active military is free on Friday; family admission is discounted on Sunday. Live entertainment will be provided by the McKinney Dance Band on Friday and Saturday evenings. Concessions are available from food trucks on-site during the event.

The Female Odd Couple (Friday-Saturday): McKinney Repertory Theater presents a twist on the play by Neil Simon, replacing Oscar and Felix from the original Odd Couple with female characters. Tickets are available online. (Production continues next weekend.)

Wish 100 (Saturday): The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of North Texas in partnership with the City of McKinney, McKinney Velo and Matrix Cycling sponsor this 60-mile ride through McKinney and surrounding communities, bringing cycling enthusiasts from North Texas together to raise funds to help make wishes come true for children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

Music in Motion (Saturday): Jazz, bluegrass, rock, and even big band will be offered throughout the afternoon and evening.  Interspersed throughout Chestnut Square, visual artists and arts organizations will be on-hand to display and create their art during the musical performances.  An eclectic mix of concessions will be available for purchase. Suggested donation for tickets is $5.

First United Methodist (FUM) in downtown McKinney is hosting a grand opening with FREE food (Sunday). Games for the whole family. Check it out from 5-7 p.m.
