Watters Creek is pleased to announce The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary as the beneficiary of their Change for Charity program for the months of January through March 2013.
Change for Charity provides assistance for local area non-profit organizations and is funded by a portion of proceeds collected from street side parking meters located throughout the property. While feeding the meters is not mandatory, Watters Creek hopes shoppers will continue to see the benefit to local charities by donating their spare change.
Donations to The Heard Natural Science Museum will aid in maintaining the 289-acre wildlife sanctuary located in McKinney and support educational programs geared towards demonstrating the extraordinary importance of protecting the environment and natural habitats.
“We are proud to continue our good works initiative of making a positive impact in our community by partnering with non-profits and organizations working to make a difference,” said Cornell Holmes, General Manager of Watters Creek. “Funds raised from the meters also continue to support several community events such as free concerts, family and children’s activities, art festivals and seasonal activities held at the center.”
Last quarter’s beneficiary was Connemara Conservancy, to date the Watters Creek Change for Charity program has donated over $63,000 to local area non-profit organizations.
