By popular demand, Collin College’s Destination College Department will offer a repeat performance of its “‘Writes’ of Passage: How to Write a Personal Statement, College or Scholarship Essay” workshop from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4 in the Living Legends Conference Center at the Collin College Spring Creek Campus in Plano, 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy.
Featuring essay expert and president of College Admission Consultants, Inc. Marilyn Kaufman, M.Ed., ‘Writes’ of Passage will include valuable tips regarding strategies and significant factors involved in writing an essay.
Brooke Ingersoll, Destination College coordinator, said a well-written essay puts a face to an application.
“Humanizing yourself through an essay makes you more memorable to the individuals evaluating your file,” Ingersoll said. “It can truly make a difference in being accepted to the college of your choice or receiving a much-needed scholarship.”
While the workshop is free, registration is required. As one of the year’s most popular events, space is limited. Interested parties are encouraged to register as early as possible.
Destination College is a Collin College initiative that helps high school students and their parents to get ready for college, no matter which institution they choose.
