Hello. My wife, Kelli, and I have 3 kids in McKinney ISD. As parents, we are supporting the $191 million bond election. The bond program includes additions and renovations to existing schools to accommodate growth, safety, security, and technology upgrades. kids receive here in McKinney <http://www.fastexas.org/findings/> and want to maintain that high level of academic achievement. The tax investment would be $1.85 per month for $200,000 home, or less than a cup of coffee per month. Finally, the bond money will be spent here to employ people in Collin County. It doesn’t go to Austin or
If it doesn’t pass, we will have more portables at more of our schools to accommodate the growth that we continue to experience. We have averaged almost 600 new kids per year for the last 5 years. There will be 1,300 additional students in our high schools in the next 5 years just from kids who are already students of MISD in our
elementary and middle schools. The money that the school district will be forced to spend on portables will mean losing more of our great teachers. That will lead to larger classes and lower academic performance in our schools.
