Volunteer McKinney Center offers several ways to get involved in your community this week with the following opportunities:
Up, Up and Away. Volunteers are needed for the spectacular Plano Balloon Fest, September 16-18, to help with activities, concerts, kids’ fun zone, etc. This event depends on volunteers from the community and organizations to ensure that attendees have a wonderful experience. If you can help, please click on http://www.planoballoonfest.org/volunteers/volunteer-registration or email firstname.lastname@example.org for specific questions.
Data Entry and General Office Duties. McKinney Housing Authority is seeking volunteers to assist with data entry of applicant information, follow-up phone calls, faxing, and e-mailing in its efforts to serve low income families. Training is provided for using the in-house software. For additional information, look for “Intake Specialist” under New Listings on the VMC web site.
Help Prepare Clients for Job Interviews. Community Lifeline Center helps residents manage short-term crises with a variety of services including job search training. Four job classes are offered from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. each Tuesday to help men and women prepare for a job. If you have previous training, recruiting, or human resources experience and are available one Tuesday morning each month, go the VMC web site and click on “Job Seeker Workshop . . .” for application information.
