Volunteer McKinney Center offers several opportunities to get involved this week:
–McKinney Make a Difference Day is scheduled for October 22 and has a large variety projects for individuals and groups listed online. To register online, go to www.volunteermckinney.org, click on Volunteer Opportunities, scroll to Make a Difference Day, and then choose from the list of projects. Many volunteers are also needed for an early project—helping move the Habitat for Humanity offices on September 24. If you can help move furniture and boxes or if you can volunteer your truck on that day, please contact Andrea at 972-542-5300 ext. 103 or email@example.com.
–German Celebration. The annual Oktoberfest in Historic Downtown McKinney, a celebration with German food and drink and many kids’ activities, will be held September 23 and 24, 2011. Volunteers are needed to help in different areas to welcome families and friends to this popular, family-friendly event. If you would like to contribute to the success of this German tradition, go the VMC web site and use keyword, “Oktoberfest” for additional information.
–Job Seeker Training. Facilitators and trainers are needed for the job search training classes held for clients of Community Lifeline Center. Volunteers will contact those interested in the classes, keep records of attendance, and help promote the program through community publications and contacts, as well as social media websites. Interested candidates may apply online. Go to www.communitylifeline.org and click on Get Involved.
