Volunteer McKinney Center encouarges you to help your community. Here are several different ways.
Early Make a Difference Day Project. North Collin County Habitat for Humanity needs your help to move to their new location on September 24th. Volunteers are needed to move furniture and boxes, and trucks are needed to haul things from the old location to the new offices. If you can help, please contact Andrea at 972-542-5300 ex. 103 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stock the Pantry. Emily’s Place provides transitional housing for women and children who have been victims of domestic violence. Food items are needed to help feed the women and children who live at Emily’s Place while they strive for self-sufficiency. This is a great project for a small group since the pantry is about the size of a regular home pantry. If your group is interested in this or other volunteer opportunities at Emily’s Place, use keywords, “Emily’s Place”, on the VMC web site.
Coming Soon! The annual McKinney Make a Difference Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 22. Hundreds of volunteers will gather at several locations to volunteer their time to make a difference in their community. Some of the projects planned include sewing pillows for hospice patients, craft projects for nursing home residents, making greeting cards for soldiers, and sorting canned goods at Food Pantry Other special projects will be completed for Community lifeline Center, McKinney Family YMCA, ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship, Chestnut Square, Heard Natural Science Museum, Children and Community Health Clinic, Holy Family School, City of McKinney, and Operation Appreciation. Make plans to register for your favorite project online at the VMC web site beginning September 12.
