Volunteer McKinney Center offers several ways to get involved as the month of July begins.
–Fundraising Coordinator. Train Your Future provides essential leadership skills
to youth in North Texas to bring about positive change in their communities. The
agency is currently seeking a Fundraising Coordinator with nonprofit fundraising
experience to help the Director and staff maintain and expand funding as well as
develop new sources of income. If you are interested in helping today’s youth
become tomorrow’s leaders, look for a more detailed description of this position
on the VMC web site. Click on Agencies, then Train Your Future, then View
Board Connection Position.
–Weekend fun with children. You can brighten the day of a child living at
Emily’s Place, transitional housing for women and children who have been
victims of domestic violence. Whether you choose to do arts and crafts, play
games, or even spend time at the park with the child, your time will make a
difference. Dates and times are flexible. For more information, click on “Provide
fun activities for kids” under Updated Listings on the VMC web site.
–Tour Guides/Docents. If you enjoy history and meeting new people, serving as
a tour guide at Chestnut Square Historic Village would be the perfect volunteer
opportunity for you. Each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 11:00 a.m.,
volunteers provide a guided tour of the building/houses at the Village. The tour
normally lasts about an hour. New docents will shadow and observe a trained
docent as well as receive a training manual. For contact information, go to the
VMC web site and use Keywords “Tour Guide.”
