Volunteer McKinney Center announced the following ways to get involved in your community:
•Positive Male Influence. Share a little of your time to conduct a boys leadership group once a week during school hours at Webb Elementary. These boys need the influence of a father figure to help guide them in a positive direction. Just 30-45 minutes a week will make a big difference for these students. For more information, use Keywords, “Boys Character” on the VMC web site.
•Grant Development Intern. The Heard Natural Science Museum is seeking candidates interested in volunteering to work for the Museum’s education coordinator on all aspects of grant development. Candidates should be self-motivated, willing to work hard while learning, and willing to commit to volunteer at least 8 hours a week for one year. For additional information, use Keywords, “Grant Development” on the VMC web site.
•Beautify the Village Landscaping. Chestnut Square Historical Village is scheduling every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon for volunteers interested in helping with landscaping at the Village. Weather permitting, volunteers might pull weeds, trim bushes, lay down mulch, and perform other tasks that will help keep the lush gardens attractive. If you enjoy working outdoors and would like to help maintain the village that depicts life in McKinney’s past, go to the VMC web site and use Keywords “Gardening Day.”
