Volunteer McKinney Center’s weekly list of positions available:
• Receptionist. At Community Lifeline Center, the receptionist is the first point of contact with individuals and families that are dealing with an unexpected circumstance. Receptionist duties include supplying information and referrals, determining eligibility for services, and assisting with preparation and copying of documents. If you have a friendly voice and a caring personality, look for the application form on the VMC website. Go to the Volunteer Opportunities page and click on “Volunteer Receptionist.”
• Job Seeker Training. To assist families in crisis, Community Lifeline Center offers four classes to help clients locate and prepare for a new job. Additional volunteer trainers are needed to conduct one or more of these classes held every Tuesday morning. If you have a background in training, recruiting, career/business networking or human resources, this is a great opportunity to help clients prepare for a new job. This program
also needs a coordinator to initiate and follow-up contact with participants, record class attendance using Excel, and promote the program throughout the community. For additional details, look for “Job Seeker Trainer/Facilitator” or “Job Seeker Workshop Coordinator” on the VMC web site.
• Organize a Collection Drive. Community Lifeline Center’s mission is to assist local residents in managing short term crises and navigating their way back to self-sufficiency. Individuals and groups can help accomplish this mission by organizing a collection drive. Use the VMC web site to contact the Center for current needs.
