Volunteer McKinney Center offers three opportunities this week:
Ice Cream Lovers. Volunteer opportunities are available at the annual Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank Off on Saturday, June 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include homemade ice cream competition and tastings along with festivities for the entire family. Volunteers can serve as general runners, assist at the ice cream stations, help with set-up and break-down, and help with crafts, sales, game booths, or crowd control. Retail Sales in a Fun Environment. Dixie’s Store is an old-time general store dating back to 1918 located at Chestnut Square Historical Village. It is open Saturday mornings from 8 to noon from late March through the end of October. Volunteers are needed to help stock the store and assist customers. Teach English. The McKinney Public Library in downtown McKinney offers classes to limited-English speaking adults on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The eight-week session begins June 7. Training is provided. If you can help these motivated adults learn English, please use keywords, “Library Tutor” on the VMC web site to obtain additional information.
