Volunteer McKinney Center is offering several opportunities this week.
Hospice Team Volunteers. The hospice team at American Hospice is seekingcompassionate people who are willing to share their lives with terminally illpatients and their families. Volunteers can brighten the patients’ day by visiting, reading, painting nails, or sharing a smile or touch. Assisting with general officeor bereavement work will help make the office flow more smoothly. Hospicelocations include McKinney, Sherman, Gainsville, Denison, Commerce andBonham. If you are interested in becoming a part of the American Hospicefamily, contact Tasha Swadley at 972-548-1871 or email@example.com.
Host an Exchange Student. Share the American way of life by hosting a young person from another country. Host families provide a bed, meals, as well as friendship and understanding. The students speak English, are covered bymedical insurance, and have spending money for their personal expenses. Hosts can review applications and select the student that will best match their family. Host families are diverse: single adults, married couples with and without children, seniors, or empty-nesters. If you can share your heart and home, look for “Amazing Teens Need You,” on the VMC website.
Marketing/Development Volunteer. MADD is seeking volunteers to help raise funds for the MADD programs that support victims of drunk driving and promote the prevention of drunk driving and underage drinking. Fundraisers obtain prizes and donated goods and services for the golf tournament, solicit underwriting from local businesses and individuals, and use grant writing skills to seek additional funds. If you can only volunteer occasionally, helping at one of MADD’s special events may be right for you. For additional information on these positions, use Keywords “Marketing/Development” on the VMC web site.
