Volunteer McKinney Center released three opportunities for this week:
• Field Trip Facilitator. Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary is seeking volunteers to greet visitors, answer onsite questions, and make recommendations for self-guided field trips. Training is provided including a general knowledge of the trails and current exhibits. If you are interested in helping visitors
enjoy nature, look for “Field Trip Facilitator” on the VMC web site.
• Help Victims of Abuse. The goal of Born to Be is to help survivors and victims of abuse to heal, get back on their feet, and gain confidence in themselves. This non-profit organization currently has an assistant/secretary/public relations position open. Responsibilities include contacting organizations and businesses to promote the organization’s mission and coordinating events and fundraisers. If you would enjoy reaching out to others in the community to share your commitment for helping survivors and victims of abuse, go to the VMC web site for additional information. Click on Volunteer Opportunities, then click on “Looking for Passionate People . . .”
• Foster Rescued Pets. League of Animal Protectors is currently looking for volunteers to temporarily provide a safe and loving environment for a rescued cat and/or dog. These volunteers must be able to transport the rescued pet to and from a local vet. Foster families meet with current volunteers to become familiar with guidelines, must sign a foster agreement, and allow a home-check to ensure the safety of the animals. If you are interested in being a foster family, look for “Foster Rescued Pets” on the VMC web site for more information.
