Volunteer McKinney offers two great opportunities this week.
• Make Cowboy History Come Alive. Chestnut Square is having its first Spirit of the Cowboy Days on September 21 and 22 to honor and preserve the values and culture of the cowboy way of life. Volunteers are needed for set-up and break-down, ticket sales, runners, wristband checkers, general sales, hosts, and more. This is a great way to meet new people and get involved with the community. For additional information, go the Volunteer McKinney web site and click on “Spirit of the Cowboy Days” under Updated Listings.
• Learn about Museum Curating. Chestnut Square is seeking an assistant curator to assist with inventory of historical items, accession and de-accession of items, as well as working on a volunteer manual for handling artifacts. On-the-job training is provided. What a great opportunity for anyone interested in being a museum curator. Look for “Curator Assistant” on the Volunteer McKinney web site for contact information.
