This week’s offerings to get involved in your community, as presented by Volunteer McKinney:
• A Variety of Volunteer Opportunities. Embrace provides support to foster and adoptive families in the McKinney area. This agency currently has several volunteer needs including helping care for the children during parent workshops, providing new blankets for arriving children, and helping with the annual fundraising event on November 10. Additional information on these opportunities can be found on the Volunteer McKinney web site under “New Listings” and “Updated Listings.”
• Team Up to Clean Up. Gather your friends, family and/or co-workers and help the City of McKinney clean up roadsides, neighborhoods, and parks on Saturday morning, October 20. For contact information, look for “Trinity Trash Bash” on the Volunteer McKinney web site.
• McKinney Make a Difference Day. The National Day of Doing Good is scheduled for October 27. McKinney families and friends will be working together to complete 19 projects to help local non-profits and their clients. Some of the projects include outdoor cleanup and maintenance, assembling goodie bags, helping prepare for special events, cleaning CCART vans, distributing flyers, repainting, crafts, environmental education, and organizing supplies. To find just the right opportunity for you and your family or friends, look for “2012 Make a Difference Day” on the Opportunities page of the Volunteer McKinney web site.
