Volunteer McKinney Center offers three great opportunities this week.
• Care Calls. Meals on Wheels, an agency that combats isolation and promotes the health, dignity and independence of those 60 years or older, is seeking a Client Liaison to conduct well-check calls once weekly between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Mondays or Fridays. For information about the application and required background check, look for “Care Call Program” on the Volunteer Opportunities page of the VMC web site.
• Help Victims of Abuse. The goal of Born to Be is to help survivors and victims of abuse to heal, get back on their feet, and gain confidence in themselves. This non-profit organization currently has several volunteer positions including grant writer, public relations, secretary, fundraising coordinator, newsletter coordinator and other volunteer positions to help with various tasks. If you are compassionate, enthusiastic, and would like to share your commitment for helping survivors and victims of abuse, go to the VMC web site for additional information. Click on “In need of enthusiastic, dedicated . . .” on the Volunteer Opportunities page.
• Group Opportunity. Have fun assembling shelf-stable meals for local seniors served by Meals on Wheels. Your group can enjoy giving back to the community on Monday, Tuesday or Friday at a 2 hour session. Children 9 years and older are welcome to participate with a chaperone. For contact information, look for “Game On” on the VMC website Volunteer Opportunities page.
