The first weekend of volleyball tournaments across the state started with McKinney North’s first two wins of the year, a successful match for McKinney Boyd and a victory by McKinney High.
McKinney North is taking part in the Denton Ryan Kick-Off Classic. The Lady Bulldogs played three matches Friday, Aug. 12, and picked up its first two wins of season.
McKinney North beat Denton High in four, 25-12, 22-25, 25-17, 25-18.
Red Oak defeated North in three, 25-16, 25-12, 25-16.
And North beat Norman in three, 25-13, 25-18, 25-18.
“The girls really showed some bright spots throughout the entire tournament,” said North coach Shannon Alvarado, “and are starting to gell as a group and understand their role and potential.”
The Lady Bulldogs (2-3) will play Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Denton Ryan and will follow with their last match of the tournament at 12:30p.m.
McKinney Boyd defeated Houston Westbury 2-0 in the Duncanville Tournament of Champions on Friday. The Lady Broncos (3-0) won 25-7, 25-18.
McKinney High won one of its first three matches in the Denton Ryan Kick-Off Classic, defeating Pilot Point 3-1. The Lionettes won the match 25-7, 18-25, 25-11, 25-9.
MHS (1-3) also lost to Waxahachie, 3-0, and Argyle Liberty Christian, 3-0. Waxahachie won 25-20, 25-19, 25-14; and Liberty Christian won 25-21, 25-22, 25-23.
