North lost to Frisco 17-25, 20-25, 24-26, but Melissa Nichols busted out of her shell on offense with a.500 hitting percentage. Nichols also contributed to the team’s four blocks on the match. Emily Greim also broke loose on the offense as the kill leader with seven and remained tough at the net with one solo block for the Bulldogs. Lindsey Denne had 25 assists on the evening.
Defensively for the Bulldogs, Mary Valdez and Kristi Carter kept everything off the floor. Valdez lead the defense with eight digs in the match. Carter had six digs and two aces for North in its victory over the Raccoons. Darby Maclea was the ace leader with four and also chipped in six defensive digs for the Bulldogs.
North will be back in action Friday when they host Dennison.
The Lady Broncos swept Desoto for the second time in three sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-20) increasing their record to 23-4. The match was delayed because Desoto’s bus was stuck in DFW traffic.
Junior outside hitter Ashleigh Martin dominated the net and protected the backcourt with 10 kills and 15 digs. Senior middle blocker Baylee Bingamin stopped Desoto’s hitters with two blocks. Sophomore libero Montana Watts wiped up the floor with 28 digs. The senior setters parker Sheperd and Tori Turck rocked the service line with five and three aces respectively while tallying 19 and 17 assists.
The Lady Broncos travel to Hebron to take on the Hawks Friday.
The Lionettes dropped a five-set thriller to Coppell at McKinney High School 25-20, 23-25, 25-17, 14-25, 15-17. See TSB’s Volleyball Spotlight story for a detailed report of this match.
