McKinney’s neighboring Collin Conty city is playing host to tournament action this week. Both McKinney North and McKinney High are taking part in the Frisco ISD Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs split at the Frisco ISD Invitational tournament on Thursday evening. North played Carrollton R.L. Turner as its first match. The girls took the court with great leadership and determination and beat Turner 2-0 with scores of 25-12, 25-13.
The second round of pool play the McKinney North team played host school, Frisco Liberty. The girls fought hard but missed on some key opportunities to finish the sets. The Lady Dawgs dropped 2 sets to Liberty. The scores of this match were 21-25, 22-25.
Courtney Kankel was the kill leader for the night with 10. Viona Vrainqi as second in kills with 8 and 1 solo block. Allison Camp added 7 kills and 2 ace serves along wtih 7 digs. Kristi Carter was the libero this evening and lead all players with 15 digs on the match. Abbey Middleton added a match high 29 assist for the 4 games.
The Lady Bulldogs will head back to Frisco on Friday night to finish pool play against Prestonwood Christian Academy and will play a cross over match to determine pool play.
The Lionettes split two matches at the Frisco ISD Tournament on Thursday. Frisco Centennial beat MHS 2-1, as MHS won the first set 26-24, then lost 16-25, 19-25.
MHS later defeated Conrad 2-0 in a dominating victory. MHS continues play on Friday.
