McKinney High defeated Allen in five sets (25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 15-8) at MHS Friday night.
Erin Hoppe led the way offensively with 18 kills, followed by Claire Embry’s 16 kills. Ashley Robert led the defense for MHS Friday night with 29 kills. The Lionette’s tallied 57 kills and 92 digs.
Boyd and MHS will meet Tuesday night in the regular-season finale at McKinney Boyd at 7 p.m. Boyd currently sits in third in 10-5A, with MHS on their heels in fourth place.
McKinney North defeated Greenville in its homecoming match Friday night at North in three sets (25-13, 26-24, 25-17) to move into third place in 13-4A standings.
Senior outside hitter Courtney Kankel continued to lead the team offensively with 13 kills and hit an impressive .474 on the night. Kali Viles stepped up and chipped in seven kills, while Abby Middleton continues to be a strong presence on the right side of the court hitting .444 on the night.
North regained some of its success from behind the line tonight with their serves. Both Kristi Carter and Darby Maclea each racked up four aces. The back row stepped up tonight for North in both their ball control and their defense. The team rallied to get 33 digs with Darby Maclea leading North with 12.
McKinney North will host its last regular season match on Tuesday against Royse City at 6:30 p.m.
The McKinney Boyd volleyball team beat Plano East High School (25-19, 25-16, 19-25, 25-17) Friday evening, increasing its record to 30-9.
Sophomore middle blocker Jill Duffin and senior middle blocker Baylee Bingaman shut down the Panther offense with seven total blocks. Junior outside hitter Ashleigh Martin and senior right side hitter Lauren Petrisin lit up the net with 16 and 15 kills respectively. Sophomore libero Montana Watts tallied 33 digs while senior setters Parker Shepherd and Tori Turck ran the offense earning 32 and 20 assists; Shepherd added four aces to close out Plano East.
