Volleyball Scoreboard: MHS Defeats Plano West; North, Boyd Fall

volleyballMcKinney High defeated Plano West in four sets (25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20) at Plano West High School Tuesday night.

Claire Embry led MHS offensively, contributing 18 of the team’s 49 kills. Ashley Robert led the squad defensively Tuesday night, totaling 27 of the team’s 67 kills.

McKinney returns to the court to host Allen Friday night at 6 p.m.

McKinney North fell in four sets to Sherman (25-21, 30-32, 23-25, and 21-25) Tuesday evening at Sherman.

The Bulldogs were  led by Courtney Kankel’s 18 kills and hit .406 on the night. Abby Middleton also stepped up huge for the Dawgs Tuesday, contributing 10 kills for the team. Lindsey Denne led in assists with 45.

Defensively, both Lindsey Denne and Kristi Carter each had a team high of eight digs for McKinney North. Melissa Nichols had an impressive five solo blocks in her efforts to control the net. The team had 10 aces on the night, and they were split between Ali Michalak, Lindsey Denne with three  each while Mary Valdez chipped in two.

McKinney North will host Greenville on Friday for its homecoming match. Varsity will play at 5:30 p.m.

McKinney Boyd fell to Allen in five sets (25-21, 25-12, 18-25, 23-25, 11-15) late Tuesday evening, leading to a 29-9 record. This game is TSB’s volleyball spotlight.

Junior outside hitter Ashleigh Martin led the Lady Broncs at the net with 27 kills. Sophomore libero Montana Watts earned 49 digs aided by Martin with 22 digs. Senior setters Parker Shepherd and Tori Turck added 31 and 29 assists.

Boyd takes the floor again on Friday night at 6 p.m. at Plano East.
