By TSB Staff, Community Contribution

McKinney Boyd and McKinney High opened their volleyball seasons Tuesday night, while McKinney North continued theirs. The Lady Broncos won, MHS split and North lost a couple.

McKinney Boyd

The Lady Broncs started off their preseason with a bang, beating the Lake Highlands Wildcats 3-0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-13) on the road Tuesday night.

It was a total team effort as every player contributed to the win. Eight Lady Broncs hit at least a .250 hitting percentage. Senior Megan Mollett led the team with 9 kills and no errors, hitting .438 on the night. Setter Brantllee Reid ran the floor, earning 19 assists. McKinney Boyd’s libero, senior Kaley Seaber got the offense going with her digs and accurate passing.

The Broncs hope to keep the wins coming at the Duncanville tournament this weekend against Memorial High School and Arlington Lamar this Friday, August 17, starting at 11 a.m. at Duncanville High School.

McKinney High

The Lionettes opened the 2012 campaign with two matches at Wylie, taking on Waxahachie and host Wylie High School. MHS lost 3-0 to Waxahachie, falling in a competitive match, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.

But the big news of the night was MHS’ 3-1 win over host Wylie. The Lionettes won the match 27-25, 25-12, 17-25, 25-21.

Next up for MHS is the Denton Ryan Tournament, which runs Friday and Saturday.

McKinney North

The Lady Bulldogs (1-2) opened their season Monday with a 3-2 win at Mansfield Lake Ridge before dropping  a couple of matches at home Tuesday night. North lost to Trinity Christian Academy and Wichita Falls Rider at the North Gym.

However, the season opener was a nice start. North beat Mansfield Lake Ridge, 25-20, 22-25, 18-25, 28-26, 15-12. Seniors Allison Camp, Lexey Wilson Megan Brehm and Viona Vraniqi all had a great start to their final year as a Bulldog. Camp lead all hitters in kills while Lexey Wilson lead all players in digs.
