McKinney Boyd swept three games at the Arlington Tournament on Friday to lead the way among local teams.
The Lady Bulldogs will be heading to the Silver bracket for their final day of competition in the Frisco ISD tournament. McKinney North split their matches Friday, losing to Prestonwood Christian Academy 0-2 and beating Liberty’s JV team. Leading the team on the night was Melissa Nichols with 11 kills. Melissa hit a season high .800 against Liberty Christian academy (8 kills no errors). She was followed closely by Courtney Kankel with 10 kills for the night. Abbey Middleton continued to lead in assist with 26 and Lexey Wilson chipped in 11 digs for the Lady Dawgs.
McKinney North will begin their final day in the tournament at Frisco Wakeland at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. This will be the final pre-season tournament for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lionettes beat Irving MacArthur 2-0 and lost to Carrolton Creekview 2-1 to wrap up pool play Friday at the Frisco ISD Tournament. MHS beat Creekview 25-18 in the first set, but lost 18-25, 20-25 in the final two.
The Lady Broncos won three matches Friday at the Arlington Tournament. Boyd beat Mansfield Lake Ridge 2-0, Grapevine 2-1 and Denton Guyer 2-0. Boyd topped Lake Ridge quickly, 25-5, 25-11; the Grapevine match was tougher with Boyd prevailing 25-20, 25-27, 25-17; and then topped Guyer 25-12, 25-18.
