The volleyball season is winding down, as two of the three McKinney schools have playoff aspirations with just three matches to go. Boyd remains in first place with a big road win at Allen, while North moves back to within one game of fourth place with a road win at Denison.
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Denison and won 3-0 with scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 25-18. North improved to 5-7 in District 13-4A play, and with a Wylie East loss to Lovejoy, the Lady Bulldogs moved back to within one game of the final playoff spot in district.
Alison Camp led the team in kills with 10 and Kali Viles hit an impressive .364 for the team and contributed to the total 32 team kills. Courtney Kankel continued to be a presence at the net, recording two of the three team blocks and added two aces for the team. Lindsey Denne led in assists for the Lady Bulldogs with 16 and Megan Brehm added nine. Lexey Wilson continued to be the leader in digs with two and Darby Maclea added in two aces for the team as well.
North plays its second-to-last game of the season Friday night at home versus Wylie. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Broncos defeated Allen 3-1 on the road with scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-12, and 25-21. Boyd improved to 7-1 in District 10-5A play and remain in first place with two matches to play.
Megan Mollett led the team with 29 kills, while Parker Shepard had a team-high 22 assists. Kelly Koop led the Lady Broncos with two aces.
Boyd will face Plano East at home on Friday night for senior night. A win and a Plano loss at Plano West would give Boyd the District 10-5A championship. Game time for the Lady Broncos is 6 p.m.
The Lionettes lost to Plano West at home 3-0, with scores of 20-25, 19-25, and 21-25. MHS dropped to 0-8 in District 10-5A play and are eliminated from playoff contention.
