Tournament action ruled the day Friday for MISD volleyball teams, with McKinney Boyd and McKinney North sweeping through the competition.
The Lady Broncos went 4-0 at the Texas Open in Allen on Friday. Boyd defeated Rockwall 2-0 (25-18, 25-18), Richardson Pearce 2-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-20), Colleyville Heritage 2-0 (25-18, 26-24), and John Paul II 2-1 (18-25, 25-12, 25-15).
The Lady Bulldogs continued their streak Friday night as they faced Frisco Lone Star and Lake Dallas. After a slow start in the first set (23-25) McKinney North rallied back and took the second and third sets (25-15, 25-22) against Frisco Lone Star. Both Abbey Middleton and Megan Brehm shared the setting duties during the match while Lexey Wilson continued to be a force in the back row for the Lady Bulldogs.
Next North faced Lake Dallas High School. The Lady Bulldogs continued to play with confidence and carry their momentum into their final match of the night. Courtney Kankel and Viona Vraniqi lead the evening in kills while Allison Camp lead in aces for the victory over the Falcons 25-16, 25-17. The Lady Bulldogs will return for their final day of competition Friday and play at Lewisville High, opponent still to be determined.
The Lionettes dropped three matches Friday at the Texas Open in Allen, falling to Lovejoy 2-0, Lubbock Coronado 2-0 and Amarillo 2-0. The Lionettes, however, defeated El Paso Eastlake 2-0 to finish 1-3 on the day.
