Volleyball Scoreboard: North Wins District Game, MHS Falls in 5

north_vb_9-24-15McKinney North got a victory in District 13-4A play Friday night, sweeping Sherman at McKinney North in straight sets (27-25, 25-15, 25-15).

Offensively, Courtney Kankel led the team with 12 kills. Alli Mills stepped in and had an outstanding performance on the right side Friday, leading all hitters with .375%.

Senior middle blocker Melissa Nichols stepped up with five solo blocks and one assist block for the team. Ali Michalak shared the setting responsibilities tonight and did a great job of leading the team and averaging nine assists for the Bulldogs.

The defense remained steady for McKinney North. Leading the way was sophomore Darby Maclea with nine digs. Both Kristi Carter and Mary Valdez continue to play tremendous defense for the Dawgs and each significantly contributed to the team’s 36 digs on the night.

McKinney North will travel to Greenville on Tuesday with the match scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.

McKinney High fell in five sets (25-22, 28-26, 17-25, 17-25, 10-15) to Plano Senior at McKinney High School Friday night to open district play.

The Lionettes will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to take on Plano East at 7 p.m.

MHS vs. Plano Senior – (25-22, 28-26, 17-25, 17-25, 10-15)
