Former Melissa Mayor David Dorman pleaded guilty Monday to mail fraud and will likely serve 2 1/2 to 3 years in prison, according to U.S. Attorney Malcom Bales. Dorman faces up to 20 years in prison in a public corruption case involving his dealing with a real estate developer to make a land deal take place.
Bales said at a news conference Monday that “the victim here was the public trust,” as reported by The Dallas Morning News. Dorman, 66, is expected to receive the lesser sentence as part of a sealed plea deal. Sentencing will be decided by a judge at a later time.
Dorman has contributed to TSB as a guest columnist.
