Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, the state’s leading taxpayer watchdog, today endorsed Republican Scott Turner in his 2012 campaign for the new Texas House seat based in Collin and Rockwall counties.
Created as a result of growing population in those counties, the new district was drawn from areas currently represented by State Reps. Ken Paxton and Jodie Laubenberg.
“Scott Turner is a steadfast leader who will take to the Texas House the principles and values of his district’s strong conservative base,” said the president of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Michael Quinn Sullivan. “Scott Turner can be counted on to oppose new tax burdens, fight to strengthen Texas’ economy, and put a tight leash on government spending. We are confident he will continue the conservative leadership provided by Ken Paxton and Jodie Laubenberg, two of our highest-rated Taxpayer Champions.”
Sullivan continued, “Voters are looking for candidates like Scott Turner who will govern on the conservative values and principles that strengthen Texas’ families.”
Turner said, “Texans for Fiscal Responsibility works to promote sound tax policy and government transparency – and holds politicians accountable in how they spend our hard-earned tax dollars. I’m proud to have earned this endorsement, as this underscores my pledge to be a champion of lower taxes and smaller government.”
Last week Turner received the endorsements of key statewide conservative leaders Kelly Shackelford, Cathie Adams, and David Barton. Turner was also endorsed last week by Young Conservatives of Texas.
