TSB’s Top Sports Stories of 2013: Undersized Dawgs Reach Regional Hoops Semis (No. 7)

McKinney North’s boys basketball team advanced to the UIL 4A Regional Semifinals this season with a 23-21 overtime victory over Mansfield Legacy. The quarterfinal game took place at Coppell High School.

The Bulldogs won their 23rd game and their third consecutive playoff game under head coach Darryll Craft, and Craft chose to use some methodical tactics for his undersized team down the stretch to preserve the victory.

North’s Collin Curran made two free throws with five seconds remaining in the overtime period to provide the difference in margin for the Bulldogs.

The most astonishing fact of the night? Mansfield Legacy did not score in the fourth quarter or the overtime period. For the complete story please click here.

The amazing run ended next with a loss to Dallas Kimball, however six Bulldogs won All-District 13-4A honors.
