TSB’s Top Sports Stories of 2013: Boyd Wins 7th Straight Over MHS (No. 5)

A sign hanging along the fence of the McKinney Boyd student section at Ron Poe Stadium on this Friday night in November read: “We Run This Town.”

Boyd proved that sign correct in this regular season-ending football game, cruising past crosstown rival McKinney High 28-0. The win marked the Broncos’ seventh consecutive victory over MHS.

The Bronco defense stampeded through the MHS offensive line, continually putting pressure and sacking Lions quarterback Brian Sutter. Boyd held McKinney High to 119 total offensive yards and Sutter to just 57 yards passing yards and one interception. Tyree Johnson led MHS with 69 rushing yards, but threw a pick on a trick play in the first half.

Broncos head coach Don Drake said the defense was outstanding Friday, continually improving and putting together its second consecutive strong performance.
