TSB’s Top Sports Stories of 2012: MHS Boys Basketball Plays at American Airlines Center (No. 5)

By Mike Bruu, TSB Sports Editor

McKinney High played a part in history back on February 25, playing the first high school playoff game in the 11-year history of the American Airlines Center.

In front of more than 1,200 people, the Lions battled South Oak Cliff in a thriller of a game but ultimately lost to the Golden Bears 80-75 in the area round of the UIL boys basketball playoffs.

The Lions were able to overcome an 18-point second half deficit to make it a ballgame at the very end, but came up short to one of the top teams in the state. Senior A.J. Moutry led the Lions in points with 14, while Raynell Denny finished with 10 points of his own.
