November 17th was a night full of high expectations for McKinney Boyd athletics. The volleyball team was one win away from a potential rematch in the state championship game, while the football team was set to battle Jesuit in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
By the end of the night, not only did both teams lose their respective contests but the two of the key athletes at Boyd, Bryan Driskell and Megan Mollett, were hindered by injuries and limited to minimal action.
Mollett and Driskell both suffered knee injuries in the game. Driskell was able to return to the game for a few snaps in the second half, but Mollett suffered a torn ACL in the first set and was on the bench for the remainder of the night.
On the field, Boyd football lost 45-10 to Jesuit while the Lady Bronco volleyball team came up short in its comeback efforts, losing 3-2 to New Braunfels.
