More bikes will soon be on neighborhood streets in McKinney after the city council approved the on-street bicycle master plan on June 5. McKinney, home of “Bike the Bricks” races, will start by spending what’s left of grant money to add signs to mark bike lanes and “retrofit” existing streets.
The city will begin the project by holding seminars
to education residents about signage and the rules of bike lanes. Signage for the bike lanes will begin to be posted in February 2013.
There are vocal opponents of this decision, and no one is positive of the timetable, but the plan is in order.
