Longtime popular country singer Pam Tillis will perform an acoustic Christmas concert on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the McKinney Performing Arts Center. It begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 for reserved seating with more details available here.
TownSquareBuzz.com reporter Christine Baker had a chance for a quick Q&A with Tillis during her travels to McKinney.
Q: How long have you been doing shows?
A: “I’ve been doing a Christmas show every year since 1997, it’s just a part of our year— and we’ve changed it up a bit every year.”
Q: What are the holidays like for you?
A: “A busy touring schedule. This is our time to be together, and when the last song is done for us is when the clock stops for us. We’re away from our families and we miss them so much. We’ve become a really tight knit family.”
Q: What is your signature song during a concert?
A: “ `Beautiful Night’ is my single and its such a pretty song.
Q: How many days a year are you touring?
Q: What are your expectations for this concert?
A: “You never really know what to expect. All I really want for Christmas are butts in the seats and as soon as it’s over I’m going home to start cooking and finish up last-minute shopping.”
Q: What is your favorite Christmas song?
A: “I’ll be Home for Christmas”
Q: Favorite Christmas memory?
A: “Well I have a story I’m saving for the show so I don’t want to ruin it, but I always tell everyone the story about how one Christmas I wanted Beatle Boots and my parents didn’t understand — and they bought me majorette boots, which are not the same thing, and my dad said I looked like a mosquito standing in the middle of two shotgun shells.”
Q: What makes your concerts special?
A: “Most people are about the whistles, the bells and the fireworks, but a concert with me is like a visit. I want the audience to feel like they’re sitting in my living room.”
