TSB recently stopped by the new McKinney tennis center, The Courts at Gabe Nesbit Community Park, 3253 Alma Road, for a sneak peek at the brand new facility that is due to open Feb. 25. Although the pro shop was not yet stocked and the furniture hasn’t arrived, the complex is magnificent.
The complex features eleven fully lit courts, a signature stadium court, and a 3500 square foot clubhouse, with a large covered patio area. The courts are laid out beautifully, with esthetically pleasing space between each court. A large open plaza connects all courts can be utilized for formal and informal events of all kinds.
Open to anyone, McKinney residents are eligible for a membership at a lower price than non-residents. The general manager, Pat Hanlin, said that they have already started signing up members and teams. Members will be able to make online court reservations, and can register for lessons online as well.
McKinney Parks and Recreation Director, Lemuel Randolf said, “We offer (at the tennis center) a country club experience at a municipal price.”
The grand opening will be Feb. 25 at 1 – 5 p.m. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
