TSB Holiday Memories: Christmas Eve Traditions

By Matthew Bado, TSB Staff

My favorite Christmas memory? How can one pick just one? I guess I would have to pick the years my family lived in Chicago. Between ages 5-12, I always looked forward to Christmas Eve. We would go to church and then celebrate with our next door neighbors over appetizers and drinks. Santa would make an appearance and give out one gift to each child. We kids could barely contain our excitement all day but the party and Santa’s early visit would keep us occupied until bed time.

Even when we moved to McKinney the family kept the tradition alive, sans Santa but with tons of food and drink. We still make our signature app — english muffin cheese crabbies (pictured). YUM! I’m already excited to make this year’s batch. Yes, from the same cookbook my mom bought from my elementary school fund-raiser circa 1986.

Merry Christmas!
