TRE Election Early Voter Turnout Dwarfs May’s City Council Election

voteIt appears that many of McKinney’s voters could not wait until Saturday to have their say in the controversial McKinney ISD tax ratification election.

The early voting total of 6,662 in the TRE election is more than twice the total voter turnout of 2,820 for the McKinney City Council election in May. It appears, based upon the early voting numbers, that the TRE vote total will be massive.

For comparison, 1,901 people voted early in the McKinney City Council election in May. On Tuesday alone, the final day of early voting in the TRE election, 1,734 people voted, nearly equaling the total number of early votes in the city council election.

If the TRE election is passed,  McKinney’s residents will see an annual property taxes increase by an average of $268.59 in order to increase funding to McKinney ISD.

Election day is September 21. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Those who haven’t voted already can vote at the following locations:

McKinney Boyd High School – 600 N. Lake Forest Drive

Collin College – Central Park Campus – 2200 W. University Drive

Eddins Elementary School – 311 Peregrine Drive

McKinney City Hall – 222 N. Tennessee Street
