By Mike Bruu, TSB Sports Writer
I have always been amazed at some of the talents people possess in sports or activities that we don’t always hear or see much about. We see baseball players hit 450-foot home runs every night. We see football players make unbelievable diving catches every Sunday. But what we don’t always see are some of the incredible talents of figure skaters.
Yes, I said figure skating.
Here’s the rub: The TSB staff (and myself, somewhat) decided that I needed to bring some of these lesser known activities into the spotlight — on video, by the way — so I decided to lace up my skates and take the ice for my first little lesson in a sport that I haven’t tried:
The sport of figure skating.
Thanks to the folks at The Ice at the Stonebriar Mall, I was able to get some help from three very talented figure skaters and attempt to do some various moves and skills. While I won’t be representing the USA on the ice anytime soon, I encourage you all enjoy my journey in learning how to figure skate. Please click below for the video of my first adventure.
Editor’s Note: Watch for upcoming videos of Mike’s, well, er, gallant efforts at tackling some sports he hasn’t yet tried.
