Pat Lobb, owner of Toyota of McKinney, has put the wheels in motion to purchase the Jerry Durant Auto Group, a major complex comprised of Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick-GMC, Toyota and Hyundai autos located in Weatherford and Granbury.
According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram:
Durant said he had recently had his second back surgery, and when the opportunity came he decided it was a good time to slow down and take better care of himself. “I want to have more time for my family and for my grandkids,” he said.
Durant is a principal in a real estate development project in Aledo and for many years has been active in the cutting horse business.
Reached in McKinney, Lobb said he’s excited by the opportunity to buy the Durant dealerships.
“I think the way Jerry and his team have done business over the last 40 years is the very same way we’ll do business,” Lobb said. His Toyota dealership leads the North Texas region in sales and is fourth in Toyota’s five-state Gulf States region.
Lobb grew up in Fort Worth, attended Carter-Riverside High School and Texas Christian University, and cut his teeth in the auto business working for Ernest Allen Chevrolet on West Seventh Street.
