TownSquareBuzz Founder Named To ‘Top 25 Women in Business’

Angie Bado, Owner and Founder of TownSquareBuzz.com, was named to the list of “Top 25 Women in Business” by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce during last night’s ‘Women of Substance’ event at Rick’s Chophouse.

Bado launched McKinneySports.net in 2005, which later morphed into McKinneyNews.net.  She then launched TownSquareBuzz.com, a truly different kind of community website – a place for McKinney residents, businesses, government and schools to create and share stories through multi-media. TownSquareBuzz has a limited staff of journalists and photographers and the website relies on stories and opinions submitted by its readers.

“The intention with TownSquareBuzz.com is to provide an opportunity for area residents to connect and engage like never before. Whether it might be connecting with the community at large or connecting with a niche group within our community, such as the art community here in McKinney, people long for a connection that is often missing in today’s world, and our goal is to provide just that,” Bado commented.

Bado said one her favorite quotes to describe TownSquareBuzz is from technology journalist Marshall Kirkpatrick: ” I care about what’s happening in the neighborhood around me and I want to see the fabulous new technologies of open government data, online news syndication, social networking and data mining all put to service to fulfill hyperlocal news wishes and dreams I didn’t even know I had yet.” (Marshall Kirkpatrick, Read Write Web)

In conjunction, Bado launched the TownSquareBuzz Foundation, which is selling red shirts to draw increased attention to McKinney’s veterans, service members and their families.  It is a local effort which stemmed from the nation-wide Red Shirt Fridays campaign.

Bado has played an active role in the community, serving on the boards of the Chamber of Commmerce, McKinney Convention and Vistors Bureau, Chestnut Square and YMCA.

Congratulations to all the honorees!
