Toner Talk With Trudy – Part Two

By Trudy Whitney, Rapid Refill Ink

When it comes to printing, beauty is not in the eye of the beholder but in the quality of ink and the care taken to refill or remanufacture inkjet and toner cartridges.  Customers can rightfully be disappointed in print quality of a cartridge they purchased on an Internet site or had refilled by a machine using generic inks.  An inkjet cartridge properly flushed, atomized, spun to dry weight, and filled with the specific inks that meet all required specifications to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) products will produce excellent copies and perform the same page count if not exceed those requirements the brand name manufacturers expect of their own products.

I do not claim to have a medical degree but it is a psycological phenomenon that we expect after-market cartridges to not last as long or perform as well as OEM because we scrutinize them heavily.  If the box says HP or Lexmark, you simply accept the performance and give it little more thought than that. Not to mention, if you are not happy with an OEM product after you have placed it in your printer, you may not take it back to the store for a refund. Hmm.

Ever wonder why there are such tight restrictions on refunds? I have had customers who snarl and weigh and shake products to death only to find out after they review the purchase receipt issued months or perhaps years ago that the cartridges performed just as well and just as long as an OEM.  We have some very specific guidelines to follow to insure quality and if you are still not happy, then I happily exchange or refund your money within a reasonable time period.

As most of you know, my hands get pretty dirty.  That’s because a great deal of our inventory is produced and tested by me personally at our Rapid Refill Ink in McKinney.  We have even refused to refill and/or sell some products that we know are made so poorly the first time that they will not hold up to my processing a second time.  Our policy is to remanufacture, stock and sell only the cartridges we feel will keep our customers coming back.

Next time, let’s talk printers and paper!

Trudy and Bill Whitney are the owners of Rapid Refill Ink, an independently owned retail franchise that refills and remanufactures inkjet and laser/toner cartridges for office and home printers. In an effort to encourage recycling, empty cartridges are brought to the store that can be reused many times.  Sustainable and recycled products were utilized in the build out of the shop located in McKinney.  Rapid Refill now also offers Shredding Services.  For more information call 972.548.9393 or email trudy.whitney@rapidrefillink.net.
