Be sure to mark your calendar for the “Timeless Treasures” Fall Home Tour benefiting The Samaritan Inn, scheduled for Oct. 11 & 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This year’s third annual event will feature the beautiful McKinney Vintage Inn, which will open its doors to the public to demonstrate how a home can be beautifully and inexpensively decorated with “treasures” from our INN Style Resale Store (the “Purple Store”).
McKinney Vintage Inn, owned by husband and wife Paul Licata and Linda Carter, is located at 504 West Virginia Street, just a few blocks from McKinney’s historic square. The home is a beautiful example of the Prairie Style Folk Victorian architecture.
The home was built in 1903 by King Daniel Thompson (1862-1943) and his wife Frances Gibbons Abernathy Thompson (1874-1968). King was a successful salesman for the Heinz Company, and Frances was a gifted and prolific artist with a special talent for writing. Her paintings were numerous and it has been estimated that more than 500 of her works can be found throughout the country. Additionally, her writing skills created quite a demand for her to write for the local newspaper reporting on local happenings and topics of general interest.
Many of the items at the home, originally from the INN Style Resale Store, owned and operated by The Samaritan Inn, will be available for purchase. There will also be a special Christmas Shop with an amazing selection of holiday treasures.
Attending the show will give you some great decorating ideas, offer you some very specially priced and unique items, and earn you a 25% discount coupon for use at our store.
All proceeds from ticket sales and purchases will benefit The Samaritan Inn, the leading residential homeless program in Collin County.
Tickets are $10 per person in advance or $15 at the door on the day of the event. Advance tickets are available for purchase online at www.thesamaritaninn.org or at our INN Style Resale Store (the “Purple Store”) located at 103 E. University Drive in McKinney.
