If you plan on voting in next month’s election, Thursday is your last day to register to vote. Several seats on McKinney’s city council are at stake in the May 11 election.
Among those seeking your vote is Mayor Brian Loughmiller. He is running against Derrick Johnson, who suspended his campaign last month and is no longer seeking the office of mayor. Due to election rules, Johnson’s name will still be on the ballot. Therefore, Mayor Loughmiller is still campaigning.
The other contested race is for the at-large seat on the city council. This seat is currently held by David Brooks, who is not seeking re-election. Jeremiah Hammer, Randy Pogue and Martin Sanchez are all vying for the at-large seat. Councilman Don Day and Mayor Pro Tem Travis Ussery are also on the ballot for re-election but they are both running unopposed. Click here to see a recap of the town hall meeting hosted by TSB featuring Day and Ussery.
